A lipid panel, or cholesterol testing, is a simple blood test that provides basic information about the amount and types of cholesterol in a person’s system. The values help your provider determine the risk for cardiovascular diseases, such as strokes and heart attack.
Specific values include:
- Total Cholesterol
- LDL (low density lipoprotein) – “bad” cholesterol
- HDH (high density lipoprotein) – “good” cholesterol
- Triglycerides – a type of fat in the bloodstream
Advanced lipid profile testing is available and can provide more detailed information about cholesterol particle subtypes. At this time, however, there are not agreed upon national guidelines for when to engage in advanced testing.
We offer convenient on-site phlebotomy, saving you time and avoiding the need to travel to a different blood-draw facility.
