Complete Blood Count Test
A complete blood count, or CBC, is a common blood test that provides basic information about the most common blood cells.
- White Blood Cells (WBCs) – responsible for the body’s immune system. High WBCs can also indicate systemic infections. Extraordinarily high levels can be seen with Leukemia.
- Red Blood Cells (RBCs) – responsible for delivering oxygen to the body organs. Low RBCs can be sign of anemia which can cause fatigue.
- Platelets – responsible, in part, for blood clotting. Too few platelets can be a risk factor for excessive bleeding. Too many platelets can be a sign of inflammation or bone marrow disorders.
